MACRO Roma reopening delayed to December 2025
The MACRO (Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma) will reopen on December 11, 2025, two months later than originally planned. The delay is due to unexpected structural work discovered during maintenance in the area that housed the permanent collection Retrofuturo. Director Cristiana Perrella, appointed in March 2025, had aimed to reopen on October 11 with the group show UNAROMA, co-curated with Luca Lo Pinto, but the necessary interventions required more time. The reopening will now feature the full museum, including a renovated library, educational rooms, a new video room, listening room, and cinema. Alongside UNAROMA, a solo exhibition by Brazilian artist Jonathas de Andrade will open, produced in collaboration with Conciliazione 5 and Fondazione In Between Art Film. UNAROMA will run until May 2026. A special day dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini is confirmed for November 1, featuring a new production by Enzo Cosimi titled "Una disperata vitalità. Un tributo a Pier Paolo Pasolini." Perrella emphasized the importance of restoring full functionality to the museum, which is managed by the special company Palaexpo but owned by Roma Capitale, requiring approvals from the Soprintendenza Capitolina.
