macLYON Exhibition Highlights Lemaître Video Art Collection

exhibition · 2026-05-06

The macLYON in Lyon presents "Regards sensibles – œuvres vidéo de la collection Lemaître," an exhibition of 28 video works from the collection of Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître, who donated their entire collection to the museum. The show, curated by Tasja Langenbach, runs from March 6 to July 12, 2026. It features works by 43 nationalities spanning 1984 to 2025, including Gillian Wearing's "Boytime" (1996), the first video acquired by the couple. The exhibition emphasizes emotion and sensibility over thematic organization, highlighting the human and empathetic dimensions captured by video art. Other works include Mika Rottenberg's "Sneeze" (2012), Clément Cogitore's "Les Indes galantes" (2017), and Takehito Koganezawa's "Until the End of a Tape" (2008). The Lemaîtres began collecting video in the mid-1990s, amassing 170 works over 30 years.
