Ben and Hillary Macklowe, owners of the Macklowe Gallery specializing in 20th-century decorative arts, have listed their four-bedroom, four-bathroom apartment in Sutton Place, Manhattan, for just under $3.5 million. The couple, who married in 2001, initially lived in a renovated duplex on East 83rd Street before moving to a rental across from Lincoln Center. After adopting a son and then having a second child, they sought a home near their gallery, which had relocated to Park Avenue and 57th Street. They found the current apartment in a white-glove cooperative, which allowed their sons to visit during the day and provided a blend of work and family life. The residence, approximately 3,000 square feet, features herringbone wood floors, a wood-burning stone fireplace, beamed ceilings, an open kitchen with emerald cabinetry, and a primary suite with custom millwork. The couple collaborated with architect Edward Kozanlian to add more light and introduce an eclectic art collection. The listing is held by Kim Shepard of Douglas Elliman.
