Macerata installs memorial to light designer Aliberto Sagretti

A memorial installation titled 'La stanza di Ali' has opened in Macerata, honoring light designer Aliberto Sagretti, who died in a road accident on September 1, 2020, at age 50. Curated by Lorenzo Ciccarelli, founder of the association Teatroinscatola and a friend of Sagretti, the exhibition runs until January 21 at the Info Point in Piazza della Libertà. Students from the Visual Light Design program at the local Academy of Fine Arts, led by professor Francesca Cecarini, designed the lighting. The installation features a self-supporting wooden room with posters and videos, plus a private corner; the exterior is left exposed to evoke theatrical backstage. Sagretti began his career with Compagnia della Rancia, worked at Cinecittà studios, and collaborated with directors Bob Wilson, Roman Polanski, Peter Stein, and Peter Greenaway. Wilson described Sagretti as 'a great light designer' who 'could create magic from nothing' and was essential to the success of many projects, especially 'The Last Tape of Krapp.' The project was supported by councillor for culture Katuscia Cassetta, and the space is in the same building as the Teatro Lauro Rossi.
