MACCA: Open-Air Museum Merging Urban Art and Archaeology in Tuscany

On March 25, the MACCA (Museo D'Arte Contemporanea a Cielo Aperto) in Peccioli, Tuscany, officially launches its activities with three new artworks by Vittorio Corsini, Marcella Del Signore, and Maria Perbellini-Christian Pongratz, alongside the reopening of the Archaeological Museum, recently recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a national-level institution. The MACCA houses over 70 contemporary art works, the result of a thirty-year project called Cantiere Peccioli, which commissions site-specific interventions from Italian and international artists. The museum is a diffuse institution spread across Peccioli and its hamlets of Ghizzano, Legoli, Montecchio, and Fabbrica, integrating art with public spaces and the landscape. Notable works include Daniel Buren's "Photo souvenirs A 45°" at Palazzo Senza Tempo. The initiative is supported by the Municipality, Fondazione Peccioli, and Belvedere Spa.
