MACAN Museum in Jakarta Sets November 2017 Opening with Curated Exhibition

Indonesia's Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nusantara (MACAN) in Jakarta will open publicly in November 2017. The museum, Indonesia's first major contemporary art institution, appointed Aaron Seeto as director in November 2016. Ahead of the opening, MACAN will host performances and lectures in March 2017 under the program MACAN First Sight, featuring Indonesian and international artists. The official opening exhibition will be curated by Charles Esche and Agung Hujatnika, showcasing 90 works from founder Haryanto Adikoesoemo's collection. The November launch coincides with the Jakarta Biennale and Biennale Jogja.
