MAC USP and MAM-SP Present Joint Exhibition 'Zona da Mata' Exploring Culture-Nature Relations
The exhibition 'Zona da Mata' is on display at both the Museu de Arte Contemporânea (MAC USP) and the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (MAM-SP) until March 2022. Curated by Ana Magalhães, Marta Bogéa, and Cauê Alves, it delves into the interplay of culture and nature, using the concept of 'Zona da Mata' to shed light on contemporary Brazilian challenges. The exhibition is segmented into four distinct parts. At MAC USP, viewers can see works by artists such as Brasil Arquitetura, Claudia Andujar, and Paulo Nazareth. Meanwhile, MAM-SP's Sala de Vidro features pieces by Marcius Galan, Guto Lacaz, and Gustavo Utrabo from June 19 to October 17, followed by a site-specific installation by Rodrigo Bueno from October 23 to March 6, 2022. The curators highlight the historical ties between the institutions and the effects of colonization on indigenous communities.
