MAC Subcero: Santiago Metro and University of Chile Launch Contemporary Art Space in Bellas Artes Station
In the latter half of 2026, a new cultural venue named MAC Subcero is set to debut at the Bellas Artes Metro station in Santiago. This initiative follows a partnership agreement established on April 16 between the University of Chile and Metro de Santiago. The mezzanine gallery of the station will be repurposed as an extension of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC), showcasing contemporary visual arts, media, and performances. The programming will encompass concerts, dance, performances, video art, and poetry sessions. The opening will align with the 50th anniversaries of both MAC's move to the Palacio de Bellas Artes and the establishment of Metro de Santiago. Metro President Guillermo Muñoz and University Rector Rosa Devés highlighted the importance of this project for enhancing public cultural access.
