Mabelle Park: A Model for Social Innovation in Toronto
Mabelle Park, designed by LGA Architectural Partners, opened in 2025 on a half-acre site owned by Toronto Community Housing in a dense, diverse Toronto neighborhood. The park is the result of a seven-year collaboration with non-profit Mabelle Arts. It transforms an overlooked plot into a public space for warmth, creativity, and community connection, surrounded by seven residential towers in an area previously lacking amenities. The project includes landscape architecture by Shift Landscape Architecture, structural engineering by Blackwell Engineering, mechanical engineering by RDZ Engineering, civil engineering by MGM Consulting, and general contracting by Desar Construction Studio. Photographs are by doublespace photography and Katrin Faridani. The park serves as a model for social and cultural innovation in vertical housing communities.
