M+ Museum Receives 37 Chinese Contemporary Artworks from Collector Guan Yi
The M+ museum in Hong Kong has received an important donation of 37 contemporary Chinese artworks from collector Guan Yi. This collection, which dates from 1979 to 2005, includes works by notable artists such as Gu Dexin, Zhang Peili, Wang Guangyi, Xu Zhen, Cao Fei, and Duan Jianyu. Among the donated pieces are all the artworks from Canton Express, a prominent exhibition showcased at the 2003 Venice Biennale. M+, set to open in 2017 and directed by Lars Nittve, will be housed in a 60,000 square-meter facility designed by Herzog & de Meuron, situated in the West Kowloon Cultural District with views of Victoria Harbour. The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority has confirmed this significant acquisition, enhancing M+'s collection of Chinese contemporary art.
