Lyon Biennale 2021: Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath Appointed Curators

The 16th Lyon Biennale, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021, has appointed Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath as curators. Director Isabella Bertolotti selected the duo for their independent curatorial practices and global engagement. Bardaouil, born in Lebanon, holds a PhD in Art History and a Master's in Theatre; Fellrath, German, studied Graphic Design and holds a Master's in Economics and Political Science. They founded Art Reoriented in 2009, a multidisciplinary platform based in New York and Munich, and chair the Montblanc Cultural Foundation in Hamburg. Their past exhibitions include critically acclaimed shows at Centre Pompidou, Tate Liverpool, and Reina Sofia. They previously served as curatorial advisors for the 20th Biennale of Sydney and curated national pavilions for Lebanon (2013) and the UAE (2019) at the Venice Biennale. The 2021 edition aims to be ambitious and imaginative, blending international perspectives with the French art scene.
