Lyon Biennale 2019: Watery Landscapes at Fagor Factories

festival-fair · 2026-04-23

The 15th Lyon Biennale, titled 'Là où les eaux se mêlent' (Where Waters Mix), commenced on September 18, 2019, at Usines Fagor and the Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon, and will continue until January 5, 2020. Curated by the Palais de Tokyo team, this exhibition occupies 29,000 m² within the now-closed Fagor factory and the underutilized MAC. Notable pieces include carved furniture by Daniel Dewar and Grégory Gicquel, paintings by Renée Levi, and installations from Gaëlle Choisne and Jenny Feal. Fifty artists explore themes of economic violence and environmental issues, showcasing performances by Malin Bülow, dresses by Fernando Palma Rodriguez, and Thomas Feuerstein's marble-encased Prometheus. Optimism is brought by Abraham Poincheval, who metaphorically walks on clouds.
