Lyon Biennale 2019: Collateral Shows Feature Kiefer, Mastrovito, and Emerging Artists
The Lyon Biennale's extensive collateral program spans emerging and established contemporary artists. The traditional Rendez-vous group show at IAC presents ten young artists from various nationalities, notably local artist Théo Massoulier (born in Pertuis, based in Lyon), who showcases technological animals assembled from recycled materials and a poetic apocalyptic installation. At La Tourette, a convent designed by Le Corbusier, Anselm Kiefer presents religious-themed works, including a spectacular new piece for the convent church. Italian artist Andrea Mastrovito successfully interprets the spaces of the Fondation Bullukian, creating inlays covering the entire floor of the main hall. In the Bullukian garden, Jérémy Gobé contributes a mimetic intervention. Other collateral shows feature five artists: David Posth-Kohler, Zhou Tao, Mark Geffriaud, Antwan Horfee, and Renée Levi.
