Lynn Doran's Photography Captures Fragile Cultures Before Erasure

Lynn Doran, a photographer and printmaker based in the US, combines adventure with observation to document communities facing modernization and displacement. Her most iconic image, "The Blue Hat," was taken in 2013 in Ethiopia's Omo Valley, depicting a man named Zino in Duss Village. The portrait, featured in her book "OMO," has become one of her most collected works, with proceeds sent back to Zino via guide Steve Turner. Doran, who earned a BFA from California State University Long Beach, transitioned from a three-decade business career to full-time art. She works across photography, linocut printmaking, ceramics, and sewing, often transforming her photographic archive into prints.
