Lynda Roscoe Hartigan Appointed Director of Smithsonian American Art Museum

Effective September 8, Lynda Roscoe Hartigan will assume the role of Margaret and Terry Stent Director at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Currently, she holds the position of Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Executive Director and CEO at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. This new role marks her return to the museum where she launched her career, having previously been the chief curator. In that capacity, she spearheaded initiatives for acquisitions and programs that enhanced the visibility of modern, contemporary, and self-taught artists.
