Lygia Clark's Global Centennial Celebrations Launch with Rio Exhibition
Lygia Clark, born October 5, 1920, in Belo Horizonte, would have turned 100 in 2020. The artist, who died in 1988 at age 67, will be honored worldwide throughout the coming year with exhibitions at the Guggenheim Bilbao in March, Arco Lisboa in May, and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice in July. Kicking off the commemorations, OM.art in Rio de Janeiro presents the first tribute show, 'Respire Comigo,' opening September 17 at 6 PM during ArtRio 2019. Conceived by Ale Clark and Carolyna Aguiar with curatorial support from Felipe Scovino, the exhibition at the space managed by artist Oskar Metsavaht explores Clark's life and work until October 27, accompanied by a series of related activities.
