Lydia Ourahmane's Unseen Photographs at Galerie Chantal Crousel

exhibition · 2026-05-08

Lydia Ourahmane's exhibition '1752 Photos' at Galerie Chantal Crousel in Paris presents images never intended for public view, pressed between glass and arranged as contact sheets. The photographs trace her life and past projects, including realized and unrealized works, such as a series of boys by the sea abandoned after one died, and a concrete airplane built by a man who died completing it. The images hover over Algerian geographies: El Ayaïda, Oran, Algiers, and Tassili N'Ajjer. The show includes soil smuggled from Oran eight years ago, now walked upon in the gallery. Ourahmane started as a photographer with an old Canon given by her father, still used with duct tape. The exhibition runs until May 28, 2026.
