LVI International Painting Contest in Honor of Rafael Zabaleta Opens Call

The Quesada City Council (Jaén) has announced the 56th edition of the International Painting Contest Homage to Rafael Zabaleta. Open to Spanish and foreign artists, the competition accepts works of any theme and technique except graphic and digital pieces. Each artist may submit up to two works, with sizes ranging from 100 x 100 cm to 250 x 250 cm (excluding frame). Registration is online via mundoarti.com until May 3, 2026, with a fee of €1.50 per entry. A jury will conduct an online preselection; selected artists must deliver their works between June 3 and 28, 2026, to the Museo Zabaleta-Miguel Hernández in Quesada. Two prizes are offered: the Rafael Zabaleta Award (bust and €7,000) and the Rafael Hidalgo de Caviedes Award (bust and €4,000). An exhibition of the awarded works will run from July 31 to August 30, 2026, at the museum.
