Luna Luna, the artist-designed amusement park, reopens in Los Angeles after 40 years
In 1987, André Heller launched Luna Luna in Hamburg, Germany, showcasing attractions from renowned artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Hockney, and Salvador Dalí, among others. That summer, around 240,000 visitors explored the park, but it eventually closed because of ownership issues and internal disputes, which also canceled a planned worldwide tour. Fast forward nearly 40 years, and DreamCrew, the Canadian production company co-founded by rapper Drake, has brought Luna Luna back to life in a 6,000-square-meter indoor space in Los Angeles. Director Lumi Tan emphasized the park's goal of connecting different artistic movements and making avant-garde art more approachable. A nostalgic video captured the lively atmosphere, though future tour stops are still unknown.
