Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy Reopens in Los Angeles

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Luna Luna, the first and largest art amusement park, reopens in Los Angeles in December 2023 after a $100 million restoration. Originally launched in Hamburg in 1987 as an itinerant park featuring works by top international artists, it stalled in 2007 due to lack of funds. In 2022, DreamCrew—Drake and Adel 'Future' Nur's entertainment company—acquired the remnants and moved them to LA. Now titled Luna Luna: Forgotten Fantasy, the park is housed in two warehouses spanning 6,000 square meters. Half of the original 30 installations are displayed, including David Hockney's enchanted forest, Salvador Dalí's mirrored dome, Kenny Scharf's swing, and Sonia Delaunay's painted archway. Many historic rides are too fragile for visitor use. Curatorial director Lumi Tan highlights the project's significance in breaking barriers between art movements and making the avant-garde accessible. The park is indoors, offering a fully immersive sensory experience.
