Luminaria: Light Installations Foster Social Inclusion in Viterbo's San Faustino District

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The Cantieri d'Arte project, previously featured on artist Anna Raimondo's radio program, is currently presenting Luminaria, a diffuse exhibition of light installations in the San Faustino district of Viterbo. Curated by Marco Trulli and under the patronage of the Comune di Viterbo, the project actively involves local residents, refugees, and asylum seekers from reception programs managed by Arci Solidarietà Viterbo ONLUS. Citizens have made their terraces, balconies, and building facades available for the artworks. Artists include Pasquale Altieri and Massimo De Giovanni, who created luminous words from a workshop with refugees and asylum seekers in collaboration with the Italian language school In altre parole. Davide Dormino projects a light profile of a group of people on a private terrace, exploring exclusion and inclusion dynamics. Chiara Tommasi uses light to outline hanging laundry, blurring public and private boundaries. Paul Wiedmer transforms construction tools displayed in a shop window in Piazza San Faustino into 'containers of light.' The exhibition runs from December 20, 2018, to January 6, 2019.
