The LUMEN – Museum of Mountain Photography has been inaugurated at an altitude of 2,265 meters on Kronplatz mountain in Plan de Corones, Italy, utilizing a former cable car station that encompasses 1,800 square meters of exhibition area. Gerhard Mahlknecht is the architect behind this venue, which includes a 200-seat conference room, a bookstore, and the AlpiNN restaurant run by Norbert Niederkofler. Director Thina Adams emphasizes a prominent circular glass "shutter" window. The museum presents the evolution of photography, featuring vintage and contemporary cameras. It will close on April 22 and reopen in the summer with a National Geographic exhibition. Local photographers like Kurt Moser are showcased, along with the ongoing "Messner meets Messner by Durst" exhibit.
