Lumen Coffee 1936: Reversible Stainless-Steel Intervention in Yerevan

architecture-design · 2026-04-22

Lumen Coffee 1936, designed by snkh studio, is a 73 m² coffee shop in Yerevan, Armenia, completed in 2023. The project revives a former bookstore from the 1930s, preserving its 'Oriental Art Nouveau' wooden interior while introducing a reversible stainless-steel intervention. Lead architect Armine Snkhchyan, along with Ashot Snkhchyan, created a dialogue between heritage and contemporary design. The space features materials from Caparol, Euroshin, Kerama Marazzi, and Philips, with photography by Daniil Primak. The general contractor was Manvel Lulukyan, and Euroshin LLC handled stainless steel work. Curated by Hadir Al Koshta, the project is categorized under Coffee Shop.
