LUMA Arles Hosts Symposium on Curating After Globalization

institutional · 2026-04-22

From September 14 to 16, 2017, LUMA Arles is hosting a three-day event called 'Curating after the Global: Roadmaps for the Present.' This symposium follows previous ones like 'How Institutions Think' in 2016 and 'The Future Curatorial What Not and the Study What? Conundrum' from 2014. The discussions will center around curating related to local contexts, changes in geopolitics, the rise of nation-states, and the decline of citizens' rights globally. The program includes talks, panels, and informal gatherings. Featured speakers are Lucy Steeds and Charles Esche from Afterall, along with writers Alison Green and Paul O’Neill. Emmanuelle Lainé will present an installation as well. Organized by LUMA Foundation with Paul O’Neill and Tom Eccles, the event is free but requires registration.
