Luiz Braga's Fourth Solo at Galeria Leme/AD Explores Light and Interiority

Photographer Luiz Braga opens his fourth solo exhibition at Galeria Leme/AD in São Paulo on August 17. Titled 'Luiz Braga: interiores, retratos [e paisagens]', the show focuses on portraits and interior scenes, sometimes inhabited, sometimes empty. Curator Tadeu Chiarelli's text highlights Braga's manipulation of light, particularly the contrast between artificial and natural sources, which generates a color palette producing feelings of familiarity and estrangement. This approach, Chiarelli notes, denounces the artificial dimension of photographic 'truth'. The exhibition emphasizes scenes where people, when present, are captured in darker foregrounds against bright external environments. In empty scenes, the presence of inhabitants is felt through the ordering of objects and meticulous details, recreated by light and saturation, revealing the photographer's empathy with his surroundings. The show runs until September 28 at Av. Valdemar Ferreira, 130, with free admission.
