Luisa Longo's Avocado-Inspired Tableware Collection for Triplef
Artist Luisa Longo has created The Avocado Collection, a limited-edition line of hand-painted tableware and linens in collaboration with Rome concept store Triplef. The collection includes plates, bowls, centerpieces, placemats, coasters, an octagonal tray, and tablecloths and napkins in linen and cotton, all painted by Longo in soft green tones inspired by an avocado tree planted by Mario Schifano in the courtyard of Triplef's loft space, with accents of Klein blue, Triplef's signature color. Triplef was launched in 2022 by Federica Formilli Fendi, daughter of Franca Fendi, and operates both online and from a historic loft in Trastevere that once served as the home-studio of artists Mario Schifano, Gino De Dominicis, and Cy Twombly. The collection also features three hand-painted ceramic pieces created in collaboration with master ceramist Rometti of Umbertide. Longo, a fiber artist born in Bologna in 1959 who studied at the École du Louvre, works primarily with silk and organza, painting with watercolors, acrylics, and pigments to create refined chromatic compositions inspired by real places and landscapes. Her interest in everyday objects is guided by a Bauhaus-like concept of the total work of art, where fine art, high craftsmanship, and design are different outcomes of a single creative impulse.
