Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi critiques Gabetti e Isola's legacy in architecture

In a feature for Artribune's 'Architetti d'Italia' series, Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi evaluates architects Roberto Gabetti (1925-2000) and Aimaro Isola (born 1928), claiming they adversely influenced Italian architecture. Together with Giorgio and Giuseppe Raineri, they were responsible for the design of the Turin Stock Exchange (1952-1956) and played a role in the Neo-liberty movement alongside Bottega d'Erasmo (1953-1957). Puglisi contends that Neo-liberty represents a superficial interaction with history, contrasting it with the works of Carlo Scarpa and Luigi Moretti. He also critiques their furniture designs (1950-1970) and perceives their later projects as clichéd. The Unità residenziale ovest (1968-1971) in Ivrea sought ecological harmony, while the Quinto Palazzo Snam (1985-1991) is recognized for its technological innovation. Gabetti passed away on December 5, 2000, but the studio persists under the name Isolarchitetti.
