Luigi Presicce Opens Drodesera Festival with Performance and Exhibition

Luigi Presicce, born in Porto Cesareo, Lecce, in 1976, is the protagonist of the opening of the Drodesera festival, this year titled World Breakers. The artist is present in the spaces of the Centrale elettrica trentina with an exhibition and the national premiere of the performance Ascesa alla vetta della Santa e del mago dell'alba dorata, which continues the cycle Le storie della Vera Croce. Inspired by the events of the Sacred Wood, referenced by Piero Della Francesca in one of the most significant pictorial cycles of Italian art, the cycle treats biblical history on parallel planes with events and characters of socio-political relevance. Through a metaphysical construction, the performance aims to create a double allegory: the spiritual ascent of Saint Helena on Golgotha and the earthly ascent of Aleister Crowley on K2 in 1902. The interviews with artists of World Breakers_Drodesera XXXVI are curated by Dalila D'Amico and Chiara Pirri within the project Words Breakers, promoted by WorkOfOthers and Centrale Fies. For a multifaceted and kaleidoscopic approach, two questions for each interview are studied and proposed by international professionals, scholars, and experts from different disciplinary fields.
