Luigi Presicce and Raffaele Quida at San Francesco della Scarpa, Lecce

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A dual exhibition by Luigi Presicce (born 1976, Porto Cesareo) and Raffaele Quida (born 1968, Gallipoli) transforms the deconsecrated church of San Francesco della Scarpa in Lecce. Curated by Carmelo Cipriani and Antonio Grulli, the show juxtaposes Presicce's vibrant tableaux vivants—dense with references to mystery cults, saints, and myths—against Quida's formal, reflective installations. Quida installs a large reflective surface that distorts bodies and architecture, incorporating the twisted columns of a transept altar. The curators note that Presicce chooses life and interconnection, while Quida employs seemingly inert materials that mutate through interaction. The exhibition occupies the church's altars, nave, and transept, creating an immersive path. Lorenzo Madaro reports for Artribune.
