Luigi Fassi Appointed New Director of Artissima Fair

Luigi Fassi, former director of the MAN Museum in Nuoro, has been selected as the new director of Artissima, the contemporary art fair in Turin. The appointment was announced by the Fondazione Torino Musei, which issued an international call for candidates last July following the five-year tenure of Ilaria Bonacossa. Fassi will lead the fair for the 2022-2024 term, with his first edition scheduled for November 4-6, 2022. Fondazione Torino Musei President Maurizio Cibrario praised Fassi's professional profile and project proposal, expressing confidence in his ability to enhance the fair's international role. Fassi brings extensive curatorial experience, having previously directed the MAN Museum in Nuoro since 2018, curated Artissima's Present Future section, served as artistic director at ar/ge kunst Bolzano, and been a curator for the steirischer herbst festival in Graz. He has also been a fellow of the Artis Research Trip Programme in Tel Aviv, co-curator of Festival Curated_by in Vienna, and curator of the XVI edition of the Quadriennale d'Arte di Roma. His writing has appeared in Artforum, Mousse, Flash Art, and Domus. Outgoing director Ilaria Bonacossa expressed satisfaction with her tenure and confidence in Fassi's ability to ensure continuity and growth for the fair.
