Lugano's Masi Reopens with Two Photography Shows: Hechenblaikner and Shunk-Kender

After pandemic closure, the Lac in Lugano reopens with Lois Hechenblaikner's exhibition focusing on his photographs of Ischgl, a Tyrolean ski resort that became a Covid-19 hotspot. His diptychs juxtapose kitsch scenes with formal elegance, creating an ironic yet serious critique of mass tourism. At Palazzo Reali, the Masi presents a major show on photographers Harry Shunk and János Kender, who documented the Neo-Avantgarde art world in Paris and New York. Their intimate shots capture artists like Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle, as well as iconic works such as Yves Klein's 'Leap into the Void' and Yayoi Kusama's performances. The exhibition reveals that many famous photographs were actually taken by Shunk and Kender.
