Lugano's Cultural Renaissance: LAC and Beyond
Lugano Arte Cultura (LAC), crafted by Ivano Gianola, has emerged as a vibrant cultural center in Lugano. The expansive 24,000 sqm site retains two facades from the historic Grand Hotel Palace and incorporates both a theater and a museum. Its design is marked by a striking green marble exterior complemented by red travertine interiors. Director Michel Gagnon highlighted its importance to the cultural landscape. Lugano also boasts the MASI museum, the Fondazione Gabriele e Anna Braglia established in 2014, and the Museo delle Culture, which moved to Villa Malpensata in 2016. Architectural tours showcase works by Mario Botta and Enzo Cucchi's frescoes, while via Nassa features a variety of galleries alongside independent spaces like Choisi, Sonnenstube, and Heillandi Fotografie.
