Lugano Galleries Form GAL Association, Debut with Sculpture Show

In January 2023, the Associazione GAL (Gallerie d'Arte Lugano) was established by galleries in Lugano to enhance collaboration and bolster the local art community. This network comprises both emerging and established galleries focused on contemporary and modern art, including Galleria Daniele Agostini, Buchmann Lugano, Studio Dabbeni, Imago Art Gallery, KROMYA Art Gallery, Primo Marella Gallery, Galleria Allegra Ravizza, Repetto Gallery, and Artphilein. GAL's inaugural exhibition is a three-day sculpture showcase running from May 18 to 21, 2023, at the renovated ex Asilo Ciani, highlighting sculptural practices from the 20th century to the present. Featured artists include Tonatiuh Ambrosetti, Joël Andrianomearisoa, and others. GAL's president, Tecla Riva, underscored the significance of cultural endeavors alongside commercial activities, with the exhibition complemented by various events such as conferences and concerts, and curated art publications by Artphilein.
