Ludwig Forum Aachen Presents 30 Years of Cuban Art from Ludwig Collection
In Aachen, Germany, the Ludwig Forum is hosting 'Art x Cuba. Contemporary Perspective since 1989,' a significant exhibition showcasing Cuban art from the Peter and Irene Ludwig Collection, one of the most important collections of contemporary Caribbean art in Europe. Featured artists include Belkis Ayón, José Bedia, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, Yoan Capote, and many others. This exhibition highlights the development of Cuban art over the past thirty years, tracing back to the influential 1990 'Cuba ok.' exhibition at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, which motivated the Ludwigs to begin collecting Cuban art during Fidel Castro's regime. Many pieces from that pivotal Düsseldorf exhibition will be displayed in Aachen from September 8, 2017, to February 18, 2018, curated by Antonio Eligio (Tonel) and Andreas Beitin.
