Lucy Sparrow's Felt Supermarket Opens at Standard Hotel LA
British artist Lucy Sparrow (born 1986, Bath) has opened 'Sparrow Mart' at the Standard Hotel in Los Angeles, a full-scale supermarket where all 31,000 products are handmade from colorful felt. Following her 2017 New York installation, this West Coast iteration features felt versions of meat, milk, bread, cookies, vegetables, ketchup, toilet paper, sushi, frozen foods, candy, and even an ATM. Visitors can explore and purchase items starting at $5. The installation runs through August 31.
