Lucy Sparrow's Felt McDonald's at Miami Art Week

exhibition · 2026-04-27

British artist Lucy Sparrow (b. 1986) created a fully felted McDonald's installation at the Scope Art Show in Miami Beach during Miami Art Week, which ran until early December 2022. The pop-up replicated a fast-food restaurant with hand-sewn felt items including menu boards, burgers, fries, and condiment packets. Prices ranged from $25 for two ketchup packets to $900 for a McMenu. Sparrow wore a McDonald's uniform and greeted visitors. The installation sold out: 60 cartons of fries and 30 Big Macs. She continues to offer prints from her McFelt Collection on her website. Sparrow described the work as a celebration of memory and childhood nostalgia, not just about food. This follows her previous felt food installations, including a site-specific grocery at Rockefeller Center in New York and a Los Angeles store with 31,000 felt grocery items.
