Lucio Fontana Sculpture Exhibition Opens at Hauser & Wirth New York
The second chapter of a three-part retrospective on Lucio Fontana has opened at Hauser & Wirth in New York, focusing on the artist's sculptural output. Curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, 'Lucio Fontana. Sculpture' presents around 80 works from major institutions and private collections, highlighting a critical dimension of Fontana's revolutionary practice rarely explored outside Europe. The exhibition centers on ceramics, clay models, and sculptures. The first chapter was held in 2020 at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles, titled 'Lucio Fontana. Walking the Space: Spatial Environments, 1948–1968'. The third and final chapter, a large anthology, is expected in 2023 in Hong Kong. The project is a collaboration between the Fondazione Lucio Fontana and Hauser & Wirth. The New York venue is at 32 East 69th Street, running until February 4, 2023.
