Lucio Fontana's 'Spatial Metaverse' on Filicudi Island
Studio Casoli on Filicudi Island presents 'Unimetaverso Spaziale', a solo exhibition of Lucio Fontana (1899–1968) running summer 2023. The show features 35 works in ceramic, glass, plaster, canvas, and neon, curated in collaboration with the Fondazione Fontana. Gallerist Sergio Casoli, who opened his first gallery in 1985 in Fontana's former Milan studio, relocated to Filicudi in 2001. He founded Studio Casoli in Pecorini in 2022, following earlier exhibitions of Giovanni Gastel and Peter Doig, and British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. The exhibition interprets Fontana's spatial concepts—holes, cuts, and voids—as precursors to the metaverse, a theme Casoli links to the island's night sky.
