Lucio Dalla and Roberto Roversi's 'Automobili' Exhibition at MAUTO

The MAUTO (Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile) in Turin presents 'Lucio Dalla & Roberto Roversi, Automobili. Un disco', an exhibition exploring the 1976 album 'Automobili' through a postmodern lens. Curated by Mario Esposito and Carlo Emilio Zummo, the show runs from May 13 to September 20, 2026, in the museum's Project Room on the first floor. The exhibition centers on the artistic partnership between singer Lucio Dalla and poet Roberto Roversi, which began in 1973. The album 'Automobili' originally proposed eleven songs but only six were recorded. The display features an Autobianchi Bianchina, lyrics, theatrical posters, and listening stations. It includes a critical take on industrial capitalism, exemplified by the track 'Intervista con l'avvocato' where Dalla impersonates both a journalist and Gianni Agnelli. The exhibition also documents the end of Dalla and Roversi's collaboration through their correspondence, highlighting their intellectual respect despite disagreements. The show juxtaposes the museum's focus on automotive engineering with the immateriality of music and poetry, using the car as a philosophical prism to critique progress and mechanization.
