Lucio Casellato Wins Firouz Galdo Prize for Sub Urbe Film on Rome's Labaro Suburb
The first-ever Firouz Galdo Prize for multidisciplinary research has been awarded to up-and-coming filmmaker Lucio Casellato for his film "Sub Urbe." This work focuses on Labaro, a suburb in northern Rome, just outside the Grande Raccordo Anulare and near the Tiber River. With Daniele Di Mattia handling the cinematography, Giulio Convessi on editing, and music by Ross Koopmanes, the film explores the theme of thresholds, inspired by Firouz Galdo’s last book, "Attese." Created in 2013 by MAXXI Architettura and Associazione M-E-N-O to honor the late architect Firouz Galdo (1960-2012), the prize comes with 2,000 euros. The jury included six members and out of 26 finalists, "Sub Urbe" offers an authentic view of the neighborhood and its residents' lives.
