Lucia Pescador’s ‘Geometrie’ at Assab One in Milan

Lucia Pescador (Voghera, 1943) presents her solo exhibition 'Geometrie per Sonia Delaunay e Joseph Beuys' at Assab One in Milan, curated by Marta Sironi and realized in collaboration with APalazzo Gallery. The show is part of her ongoing series 'Inventario di fine secolo con la mano sinistra,' which she has been developing since the early 1990s. The exhibition is divided into two sections: one inspired by Sonia Delaunay's polka dots and a 1913 patchwork dress, and the other by Joseph Beuys's felt suit, which Pescador photographed in 2010. Works range from the 1990s to recent pieces created during the pandemic. A site-specific intervention recreates her home-studio, reflecting her practice of collecting and reusing objects, old papers, and fragments. Pescador describes her approach as a 'pietas degli oggetti usati,' a term coined by friend Marzio Porro, emphasizing the cultural memory of the 20th century. The exhibition includes drawings, vases, and an 'inventario' of absurd classifications. Pescador's work also explores cartography, taxonomy, and chance.
