Lucia Massari's Strata Exhibition at Swing in Benevento

Designer Lucia Massari (Venice, 1983) presents Strata, an exhibition at Swing in Benevento, where abstract artworks take the form of bowls. Departing from historical avant-garde art, Massari creates layered glass vessels that evoke abstract paintings, with the modernist grid softened into colorful, biomorphic shapes. The bowls are made of multiple glass layers, using a graphic and painterly collage process that becomes three-dimensional. Double firing, in collaboration with Venetian glassmakers, introduces chance effects despite the use of molds. The sensory elements reference both Ettore Sottsass and the Futurists. The bowls explore contrasts: full and empty, opaque and transparent, light and heavy, large and small, offering visual rhythms comparable to abstract paintings or musical compositions.
