Lucia Bosè: Actress, Collector, and Her Museum of Angels

Lucia Bosè, the Italian actress and art collector, passed away on March 23, 2020, the same day as Elizabeth Taylor. She won Miss Italia in 1947, beating Gianna Maria Canale and Gina Lollobrigida. Discovered by Luchino Visconti while working at a pastry shop in Milan, she debuted in cinema in 1950 with Giuseppe De Santis's 'Non c'è pace tra gli ulivi' and starred in Michelangelo Antonioni's 'Cronaca di un amore' (1950) and 'La signora senza camelie' (1953). She married bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín in 1955, with whom she had three children, separating in 1967. Bosè was a passionate art collector, amassing about 40 works by Pablo Picasso, who dedicated angel-themed plates to her. In 2000, she opened a museum dedicated to angels in Turégano, near Segovia, Spain, displaying around 80 contemporary artworks. The museum was inspired by a walk on Ponte Sant'Angelo in Rome and her friendship with Picasso. She also maintained friendships with Ernest Hemingway and Salvador Dalí. Her later public appearances featured azure hair, reflecting her inner world. Her filmography includes works by Jean Cocteau, Federico Fellini, Marguerite Duras, and Ferzan Özpetek.
