Lucca Comics & Games 2022: Record 290,000 Tickets Sold, Tim Burton and Chris Ware Among Guests

The 2022 edition of Lucca Comics & Games, running from October 28 to November 1, has sold 290,000 tickets, a record surpassing 2019 by 20,000. The theme is 'Hope,' with a poster by Ted Nasmith titled 'Hope, Lady of the Dawn.' Nasmith will have a talk on October 29 and a solo exhibition at Palazzo Ducale until November 1. Chris Ware returns after winning the 2021 Lucca Comics Award for 'Rusty Brown'; he will present the Italian edition of 'Building Stories' and speak on October 29 at Chiesa San Giovanni with journalist Luca Valtorta and writer Francesco Pacifico. John Romita Jr., legendary Spider-Man artist, will appear as Marvel ambassador on October 31 at Sala Tobino, Palazzo Ducale, celebrating Spider-Man's 60th anniversary. Tim Burton will present the European premiere of the first episode of 'Wednesday' on October 31 at Cinema Moderno, streaming on Netflix from November 23. Other events include Disney+ and 'Andor' screenings on October 30, comedy shows with Lillo Petrolo and Frank Matano, exhibitions for Salani's 160th anniversary, 'Annual 2022,' monographics of Giacomo Nanni and Corrado Roi, a tribute to Alex Randolph, and 'Atari 50.' Live performances include a 'The Witcher' concert conducted by Eimear Noone, a theatrical adaptation of 'Celestia' by Manuele Fior, and a Rhapsody of Fire concert. The 'Foodmetti' project combines comics and cuisine with chefs and artists.
