The 53rd edition of the Lucca Comics & Games festival is set to take place in Lucca from October 30 to November 3, 2019. Monographic exhibitions kicked off on October 12 at the Palazzo Ducale, showcasing works by artists like Suehiro Maruo, Emil Ferris, Alessandro Bilotta, Armand Baltazar, and Barbara Baldi, running until November 3. Starting October 30, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni at the Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lucca will feature group exhibitions, including "The Origins of Manga – From Hokusai to Modern Manga," curated by Paolo Linetti and featuring around 200 pieces, such as Hokusai's "The Great Wave." Authors like Erik Larsen and Hirohiko Araki will hold discussions at the Napoleone and Giglio pavilions. This year's theme is "Becoming Humans," emphasizing sharing and social inclusion.
