Lucas Simões presents literary-inspired sculptures at São Paulo library marking Surrealist Manifesto centenary
At Biblioteca Mário de Andrade in São Paulo, Lucas Simões has unveiled sculptural assemblages that reflect on his works from 2018 to 2021. Titled 'you text nothing like you look,' the exhibition will be open until 2 February 2025. These sculptures incorporate industrial materials and showcase engraved quotations from notable authors such as Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, Jorge Luis Borges, Octavio Paz, Al Berto, Alejandra Pizarnik, Raduan Nassar, and Cesare Pavese, along with nods to musicians like Björk and Lorenz Hart. One piece features a metal chimney paired with plaster discs and quotes from Paz and Al Berto, while another showcases a lighthouse adorned with quotes from Plath and Pizarnik.
