Luca Vitone Sets Sail for St. Helena in Performance Voyage 'Pro Tempore'
Italian artist Luca Vitone has embarked on a two-month sailing journey from Elba to St. Helena aboard the cutter Adriatica, as part of his project 'Pro Tempore'. The voyage retraces the route of Napoleon's exile, using a sailboat to resist the modern 'dromological disease' of speed. Supported by Italian Council and Fondazione Oelle, the project involves a crew including captain Pier Bruno Morelli, sound artist Alessandro Daniele, navigator Pietro Bertozzi, cinematographer Elvio Manuzzi, and writer Carlo Antonelli. The artworks produced will enter the collection of Museo Madre in Naples, directed by Eva Fabbris. An exhibition is planned at Sonnenstube in Lugano, and a monograph will be published by Artphilein. The team also includes production director Lisa Andreani and visual identity designer Ilaria Pitassi. Vitone departed a month ago and is currently at La Linea, Spain, near Gibraltar, about to enter the Atlantic.
