Luca Vitone retrospective spans three decades across Milan venues
The PAC Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea di Milano, currently without a scientific committee, presents a retrospective of Luca Vitone covering thirty years of his career for the Thirteenth Giornata del Contemporaneo. The Genoa-born artist, who moved to Milan in 1990 and later to Berlin after his gallery Emi Fontana closed in 2009, still maintains his studio and archive in Milan. Curated by Diego Sileo and Luca Lo Pinto, the exhibition features a seminal early work re-adapted to the PAC space alongside a new piece, forming a container for other works. Each room hosts a separate exhibition project. The show extends beyond PAC to the Chiostri di Sant'Eustorgio, where a selection curated by Giovanni Iovane presents smaller works in dialogue with the historic site. Additionally, Vitone's 1998 installation 'Wide City,' acquired by the City of Milan in 2004 but never installed, will be displayed for the first time at the Museo del Novecento, in a space similar to its original 1998 presentation at Openspace. The installation is not planned to become permanent. Vitone's ongoing project with the Genoese Trallalero singing groups, which began with a 2007 performance at Castello Sforzesco, continues with a performance at Villa Belgiojoso Bonaparte during the Giornata del Contemporaneo.
