Luca Trevisani's Kotykeye at Casa Museo Jorn

exhibition · 2026-06-01

Casa Museo Jorn in Albissola Marina presents Kotykeye, a solo exhibition by Luca Trevisani, from May 30 to August 25, 2026. The show is the culmination of a project curated and produced by BLU–Breeding and Learning Unit of Genoa, winner of the 13th edition of Italian Council (2024), a program by the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture. The series of stoneware sculptures, created in collaboration with Danilo Trogu of La Casa dell'Arte, is exhibited for the first time. The works originated from an investigation of the Toirano Caves in Savona, where prehistoric human and canine footprints are preserved. Trevisani interprets these traces as thresholds of contact between species. The sculptures, porous and tactile, incorporate organic and food traces, evoking sedimentation and ritual. The title Kotykeye refers to an expression used by Christian missionaries in Antarctica who, lacking lambs, called seal pups the epitome of innocence. The works were activated through performative banquets where food was served on the sculptures, emphasizing touch as primal language. The project challenges notions of sculpture, utensil, and domestication. After the exhibition, the series will enter the collection of Museo Madre–Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee in Naples.
