Luca Petti Exhibition Opens at Ex Ospedale Militare in Naples

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Ex Ospedale Militare in Naples, part of the La Santissima – Community hub complex, reopened to the public in October 2024 during Art Days 2024 after being closed since 1992. Now, it hosts a contemporary art exhibition titled "L'istinto ha preservato la mia specie" by Luca Petti (born 1990, Benevento), running from February 16 to March 13, 2025. Curated by Attiva Cultural Project members Martina Campese, Letizia Mari, and Alberto Navilli, the exhibition features thirteen sculptures by Petti under the title "Endosimbionti," depicting hybrid, timeless beings that blend plant and animal traits for mutual defense. The artist describes these as imaginary plant species merging into the animal kingdom, where species live inside other species for protection. Six works from the Fabio Frasca Collection complement Petti's pieces, including artists Aria Dean (Los Angeles, 1993) with iron sculpture "LUPO," Bri Williams (Long Beach, 1993) with "Untitled," Irene Fenara (Bologna, 1990) with video "Struggle for life," Gaëlle Choisne (Cherbourg, 1985) with a sculpture-photography piece, Grant Mooney (Seattle, 1990) with a site-specific metalwork, and Isadora Neves Marques (Lisbon, 1984) with an installation of white latex sheets and digital print. Attiva Cultural Project, which promoted the venue's reopening, continues its mission to establish an exhibition program for contemporary art in Naples.
